I was given this laser approximately a month ago. My mom owned it shortly and gave it to me. The two people who owned it before her really didn't take care of it.I'm a DSM lover and want to keep this car in working condition for a nice long time.I've done some repairs here and there, mainly to breaks, calipers. The transmission and clutch are also brand new.I'm working on the music system's wiring since the kid who had it before my mom literally cut the back window defroster right off and used the cords to power his subwoofies like an idiot. So I'm trying to fix that. But my main concern at the moment is lifter noise. I've heard its normal but I'd still like to do what I can to fix it.Any suggestions would be helpful.

Let me guess...syncro's in the tranny going out on you? I had the same problem in mine so I had to sell it... I miss it.

yea, through some Motor Flush and running Synthetic Oil, the tick is gone.Although it has been sitting since June in a garage without a transmission. Fixing it in the next couple weeks though for the winter so I can garage my mustang through the winter.

Yeah, current plan is to fix my laser, sell it for around 1k, and spend that + some extra to get a Tsi Talon or a Eclipse or hell even a Laser RS if I could find one.Or a 3000gt if I could find one, but I doubt I could get a nice 3000gt for less than 6 grand

though its not worth it..If you did want to run a turbo on you 1.8 4g37. You'd have to gather the parts....rebuild your engines internals and alot of other thing. Really not worth it. And to top it off the laser is only FWD. Not that thats terrable but if you want a fast car the talon TSI is a better choice. Im just letting you know so you dont mod try to tune a car that hardly drives ms daisy if you know what i mean. If you want a driver..keep it..want a racer/tuner. sell and get a 1G talon TSi

Just want to let you know...you dont just drop in a turbo. Alot of people think you can just bolt on a turbo..problem is you cant run a turbo on a non turbo engine..you will kill it real fast with even the smallest amount of boost. also theres tons more parts involved other than just the turbo itself. Making the 4g37 a turbo is a huge difficult job and the end product aint worth it. your best bet would be to buy a 4g63 turbo engine and all the other parts for it. find a wreck with a good engine.
