A 1G crankwalking is no more common than any other car crankwalking. The 2G's were the ones with the major problem. Caused by the piston oilers being fed from the crank oil galley... supposedly. I've never seen crankwalk firsthand (and I've worked on quite a few DSM's, although most of them were 1G, or had 1G engines).
