In the end, making the RX-8 more hardcore than the previous FD would have been a bad business move for Mazda. While people would want the car more, in reality even less people would be able to buy it, i.e. Mazda makes less profit.

Mazda did not want to repeat its mistakes with the next generation rotary, which is why they stuck with an N/A engine for the RX-8. They made vast improvements in power and efficiency with the Renesis over the last N/A rotary from the FC (232 hp vs 160 hp!) while also being more reliable than the FD. The RX-8 is much more affordable than the FD, which made the RX-8 a sales success for Mazda.

I own an '05 RX-8.Many people don't realize that while the FD was a great halo car for Mazda, it was a sales failure. It was priced out of the affordable sports car market so Mazda only sold 14K out of its projected 30K sales. Also, Mazda did not design the FD's cooling system well enough to handle the high heat of the turbo rotary, creating reliability issues that hurt the rotary's reputation for reliability til this day (N/A rotaries were always plenty reliable).

Were you unable to read or something? I clearly said "when the prius FIRST came out." I was talking about old EPA estimates and not the new one. The best thing you can only do still is read online like b2k said. He even mentioned the commercial years ago that I remember seeing also. I guess Toyota finally decided to change the estimate do to actual ownership experience.

"Besides, it wasn't immature personal attacks. w2blove and I clearly proved you wrong about this car/prius, yet you just don't want to accept it."You didn't. You were saying that Toyota was claiming that the car gets 60MPG and that it really gets 48MPG, yet when I go to Toyota's website it says that it gets 48MPG HWY. Epic lie.But whatever, this stupid argument will never end. We'll have to agree to disagree.

You seem like you know a lot about English grammar, but I realized the way you're using that semicolon; it doesn't work there. Besides, it wasn't immature personal attacks. w2blove and I clearly proved you wrong about this car/prius, yet you just don't want to accept it. I'll let you continue by the EPA books or whatever else you are reading online.

I hope you realize that both b2k and I agree that the rx8 does not achieve that kind of gas mileage. rx8club forum will also make you realize that it's true the rx8 will almost never achieve that kind of mileage. There are thousands of members on there. And you calling b2k a "uneducated moron" and "talking out of your ass" doesnt count? Oh yea, I'll agree with b2k here; you're defending yourself like a typical immature teenager. That's all I have to say. |
