Just skimming over this thread made me want to point this out... when you gain your motocycle licence you make a promise to the biking world. That promise is to become an utter arsehole to everyone who doesnt ride a bike. Because as they are always so keen to point out - bikes are much quicker than cars. *cough* in a straight line.

And lastly, not really, running costs on a bike are lower (bar tyres), they never get jammed up, meaning I never have to spend 2 and a half hours getting into work, the average car journey has somewhere along the lines of 1. 2 people in the car, meaning the extra seats are pointless, and ive found my rucksack has more space than ive needed thusfar. And lastly bikes arnt hyperdangerous in the rain that is a myth, They lose surprisingly little grip in the rain. Snow and ice are killers though

1) You are wrong, personal habits play a larger part in road safety than vehicle type. Bikers are a larger proportion of road casualties than car drivers, but in bikers the proportion of unsafe riders to safe riders is higher than in cars. I would like to see a direct comparison between the four opposing sets of motorists (ie safe car vs safe bike then safe car vs unsafe bike and vice cersa)

I was actually looking for funny motoring related videos, it directed me to this (I thought it may be someone who had just got one messing up) And I thought to ask a question that occured to me. (In no particular order)Speed round a track depends so much on personal skill that it is pointless making this comparison. Besides if you look at lap records of most race tracks top echelon sports cars (i.e. 100k+ cars) are about even with top echelon sport bikes (at least as far as ive seen)

the point ricardjorg was making was, what you searching car clips for if you're a bike fan? just to say cars are crap and bikes are better lol
andybaby1970 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
its also to easier kill yourself on a bike, even the most unsafe car is far safer than any bike, the most impractical car is far more practical than any bike, oh and cars are faster through the bends than a bike, a car has 4 big, wide wheels compared to a bikes 2 skinny ones, if you look on here there are loads of tests and comparisions that prove cars go around corners quicker than a bike, oh and cars keep you dry in the wet too lol bikes are leathal in the wet

Though it doesnt really matter, this little debate (if it can be called that...).Thank you for providing an answer to my question, to be frank I never would have thought of that.

1) Just because the cars fans are willing to put up with its impracticalities, doesnt mean it isnt impractical. It is and that is all there is too it.2) You buy a sportscar for 2 reasons, speed and looks. Alas looks are purely subjective so cant be compared, however speed wise sportsbikes are faster than nearly all sports cars, on top of that they are far cheaper. That is my reasoning (or part of at least) behind my claim that sportsbikes are better. Thusly I feel that my view is right |
